Remote Viewing Manual



Section 1:

a. Introduction:

Remote Viewing is the ability to gain information which lies beyond the range of our ordinary sense and beyond the conventional constraints of time and space. Currently there are no concrete facts explaining how and why Remote Viewing exists and works the way it does. We only have theories which are supported by evidence. The information gathered only helps to motivate us into developing and experimenting with the remote viewing methods. This manual will not describe every detail as to how Remote Viewing works, as it is not necessary to know when performing. Perhaps the best way to understand and learn remote viewing, is to practice and decide for yourself, what works and what doesn't work.

b. Warning/disclaimer:

This manual is to be taken seriously. The material below is fully functional, people who are suffering from mental diseases, or severe physical disabilities are not encouraged to practice remote viewing. Sometimes practice can become very strenuous and physical ailments may result. If at any time you begin to feel uncomfortable you are encouraged to stop practicing and take a break until you recover.

c. Preparation methods:

To prepare for remote viewing one must calm themselves and "clear their minds" so to speak. This is a very important step when performing remote viewing. It is inconvenient when present thoughts become confused with the information that is being obtained. There are many different ways to relax your body and to clear your mind. Any method is good as long as it does those two things.

i. Relaxation Technique

One technique that can be used is as follows:

Close your eyes and count backwards from 10 to 0. Focus on slowing down your heart rate and breathing rate.

Starting with the toes and working your way up, tense and relax all the muscles in your body.
While relaxing your muscles, try focusing only on breathing. This will help to clear your mind and enhance the results.

Perform.

ii. Coloring

Another technique comes from coloring, or doodling. Although this sounds very primary it is a useful tool to calm the subconscious and help the mind focus. Drawing complex pictures (such as faces) upside down force the mind even more to concentrate, which allows greater results.

Section 2:

a. Analytical Overlay and how to avoid it:

Analytical Overlay (A.O.L.) is a term often used to describe when thoughts, ideas and/or information become cross-wired or confused. When information is collected, the human brain decides to look for similar information within its memory banks. For Example: When remote viewing, the receiver describes the color Yellow. The brain will relate many yellow objects that it has previously experienced (bananas, the sun, canaries). This link of information happens subconsciously and cannot be fully stopped but there are ways to avoid it. One way is to only use descriptive words (adjectives) when describing an object. Do not use nouns as they can sometimes spoil results. For example: If I see something that is long, yellow and cylindrical, I may believe it to be a pencil, but in reality it is a garbage can.

With this problem luckily there also come other solutions. One solution which works is known as "Scribbling". Yes you will be reverted back to your read K-1 skills of drawing those great lines that everyone saw themselves in, except a bit more advanced this time. Basically how this works is you need a pad and paper and as you receive stuff you either draw it or make out a key, maybe one line for an adjective or two lines for nouns, and when you receive either, jot it down accordingly. The fundamentals behind this are that it helps you make a connection between physical actions and the information you receive. In doing so, this allows you to let your mind know that you are receiving and understanding what type of information you are receiving, so it can go ahead and do away with it. What happens to this new found space? Well, it fills up with more information about the target, in a continuous cycle of dumping and receiving information. Scribbling is very helpful in dumping those unwanted AOL nouns.

b. Matrix Theory to Remote viewing

The matrix theory is based on the fact that everything is intertwined in a series of lines and connections. Each line is connected to something or someone by means of personal connection or merely the fact that it contains your name, therefore linking you to anything which might contain a part of you, such as simply your name on a sheet of paper. When someone creates a "signal" line to a target through use of coordinates, it allows the Remote viewer to connect to the target easier by traveling through the newly opened gateway than blindly searching for the signal to the target to make a connection. In laymen's terms you create a detour to the target, only instead of like the original route, you know the directions to this new route.

c. Coordinate Remote Viewing

So to break the ice on this expansive subject we start with probably the most widely known version of Remote Viewing, CRV, or Coordinate RV. Although it is also know by some as Controlled RV, you will see later it is easier understood as Coordinate RV.

First select a Viewer and Assigner/Monitor(one who will assign coordinates) and gather together some pictures. Once you have enough pictures you will be ready to assign some coordinates to them. The normal coordinate format is 0000-0000, but anything that you think guarantees the least amount of interference from outside number combinations will do. Personally I stick to the 0000-0000 format for simplicity. You will form any number combination within this format, such as 8732-3123, and then you will need to associate in a way these coordinates with the picture you want your friend to RV. To do this you can mentally overlay coordinates on the picture (while this process works for pictures, it works best for 3d objects in everyday life) in your head and hold it in your mind or you can physically draw them on the sheet of paper, either yield pretty similar results. By doing so, in theory, you establish a connection line between the coordinates and the picture/object you chose, and anyone can tap the line. It is also best to start with smaller objects first then move up later on when both are more advanced in assigning and receiving.

Next is the process of receiving, which is a bit more advanced than the job of the Assigner. The sender should sit in a comfortable position so their as little as possible interruption, and maybe in a room that is quiet and cut off the sounds of the normal day. Once comfortable and both, Receiver and Monitor are ready, the Monitor will select an object and assign it coordinates, then relay the coordinates to you. This is where all the action begins. Once you receive the coordinates you can choose to repeat them, stare at them, or just read them once and sit peacefully. Just as long as you acknowledge them for what they are, and that is, coordinates to the object you are Remote Viewing. According to a popular theory of RV, know as the Matrix theory, by reciting or taking notice of the coordinates in some way you are creating a connection to the line (also part of the Matrix theory) made earlier between the target and coordinates, and now you must wait to receive information via this cord.

At first, information comes in spurts, sometimes in pictures, or you may even for a second be transferred to the source of the object, but that borders the line of Remote Presence (RP), so we will not deal with that here

Start off with simple adjectives, explain the information you get with as simple of adjectives as you can muster from that lack-luster vocabulary. If nouns do come, push them out and mentally tell yourself you only want to receive adjectives, and maybe feelings concerning the target. If you can't stop the nouns...Try describing them in as many adjectives as possible instead wasting time trying to push them out. The following is an example for an ideal RVing of a red wagon. "Red rectangular shape....Circles....maybe black....long line with handle like end.....open space....maybe rectangular" then it go even further if it had side supports "Brown line patterns above each side". After a while of practicing this routine you will be less prone to use nouns, and use adjectives more and more, maybe further influencing the information you receive via the Signal line.

Once you have become better at weeding out A.O.L. and controlling the spurts of information, you can move up in difficulty in targets, such as more complex pictures or whole areas. This is where you can reach the problem of being transferred accidentally to the location, and even though achieved my RVing it is mainly RPing....so I will leave that to the RP articles. This basically sums it for the technical part of using RV, so now I will leave you to the rest.

d. Advanced Remote Viewing

Once you are a little more advanced in Remote Viewing, and can hit most of your targets, you might want to move on to this method of RVing. It requires no coordinates, nor does it require an extra person. With this, it allows a broader range of possibilities within scope of this method of RVing.
Basically this method requires a place, preferably one you have never seen before, and your Remote Viewing skills. (You can also have a friend pick an object at their house or place in his house if you don't want to do this alone.) It would also be helpful if you had a Subconscious link as described in the article here and your mind was relaxed.

Once you have most of the previous you should be ready to continue on..... While you can always pick your own place, it is easier if you first have your friend pick an object, whether it is a whole room or an object in that room and keep it in mind. This helps make the association between who you are working with and what object you need to find, and makes a more defined pattern in the, if you will, Matrix (From the theory of CRV). It may help if your friend thinks about this object in its every detail to further the association, or you may find this interferes, due to ways in Telepathy and such. Find which works best for you and stick with it.

Once the object has been established it is now your turn to take part in the Remote Viewing. So get relaxed, using your favorite method...music...dance...kill....or the method mentioned previously in Section 1 of this manual. Once relaxed you need to let yourself know your objectives, and as always your objective is to receive information on your target object. This is where your subconscious link, if you have one, will come in handy because you can simply tell yourself what you are looking for. But what about those who don't have a subconscious link? Simple. Think the same thoughts with the emotion of needing to find something. If successful, you should begin to receive correct information pertaining to the object you are Remote Viewing.

e. Precognitive Remote Viewing

This following methods are a bit different in that they combine the branches of Precognition and Remote Viewing into one. You will be using Remote Viewing techniques to observe a future event, place, or outcome.

i. Multiple Targets Technique

This method requires more than just two people, and more than likely at least a small group of friends. You will need to select someone who will be picking the two targets needed for this process, one target for yes and the other target for no, and the rest of the group will do the Remote Viewing. After this person is selected, they will then proceed to select the targets such as, a "Bird" for yes and a "Dog" for no. They can draw little pictures on paper or overlap the thoughts of each in your mind, whichever they feel more comfortable with and whichever brings the most favorable results. After the controls are set, you will need to pose a question, for example "Will it rain tomorrow?"

Once you have your question comes the tricky part.....and by now most of you should know which method of RV you are best at using and incorporate it into the following. If you are best at CRV, write the question on paper, and then draw the coordinates on the same sheet of paper, or if you are better with ARV, then run the target question through your mind with the intention that it is what the Remote Viewers are going to see. Now have the group have a go at trying to RV the target. The descriptions of the images are crucial at this point, so choosing targets that are similar (cat, dog) are not beneficial. When the group members finish describing what they have seen, choose the answer which is supported with the majority of feedback.

ii. An Individual's Technique

This is probably the simplest of the techniques, but not always the most successful. It consists of yourself, and questions you have mixed up previously that you need answered or want to see the outcome of.

Gather a list of questions you need answered or future things such as "Future home", and then write them on 5-7 sheets of paper, and then fold them nicely. Grab 5-7 envelops, and place each sheet into an individual envelope. Now comes the hardest part, mixing them up...Toss them in the air.....scatter them about....just mix. Once mixed, write a set of coordinates on one, and begin to RV. Record what you receive and then later open the envelope to see if it could even remotely correspond to what was written on the sheet of paper.

Section 3

a. Ethics/Protection:

Although the choice is completely yours to make, Remote Viewing can be used for many purposes. This manual has not been composed to tell you when and how to use remote viewing, it is an individual choice. Since Remote Viewing can be practiced any place and time, it is useful to know how to protect oneself from spies. The easiest and most effective way to block out remote viewing spies is with shielding. Simply create a shield and program it to deflect remote viewing attempts.

b. Helpful Tips:

Here are some helpful tips to help you practice and develop Remote Viewing:
Keep a pen and paper handy at all times. Sometimes it is easier to draw a picture of what you are viewing, than to describe it with words. Coloring is not a big concern, but shading may help the results.
Use adjectives when describing the objects being viewed. Using only adjectives (such as fluffy, smooth, yellow) will help to avoid Analytical Overlay.
Do not relate all of the images that are seen. Although they may relate in some way, they also may have no relation to one another at all. Relating two objects can often bring upon Analytical Overlay or destroy somewhat perfect results.
Performing Remote Viewing while in a trance can help to reduce Analytical Overlay.

c. Final Warning:

Please keep in mind that over exertion and exhaustion can become serious medical problems. If at any time you start to feel nauseous, dizzy or feel any pain, stop immediately and rest. If the pain persists seek medical attention.

Beginning steps on Clairvoyance



Here's the deal: I'm going to write what I actually do and you can call it whatever you want, I call it Remote Viewing, Remote Presence, Clairvoyance, or Clairsentience depending on my mood. I give up with names; I'm just going with what works.

Now that you're sufficiently bored, I'm actually going to start in with technique in what is hopefully an easy step-by-step method:

Step 1: Prepare

As with most psionic skills, the first thing you do is to prepare. Some people take the inevitable "clear your mind", some people ground/center, some people meditate, some people start with a light trance, even a simple count-down from 10 can work. In one of the books I read the author always took off his socks. For me, it depends on my mood, but I enjoy trancing.

Make sure that you start with a blank slate, and no preconceived ideas about what you are going to be viewing. If you say "I am going to see a maple leaf" and then try to see an object, you will see a maple leaf, regardless of what the actual object is. This is known as Analytic Overlay (or AOL). That's why you always try to start with one of these preparatory techniques.

Step 2: Decide what your target is

Although this may seem easy (and it usually is), try to refine your target to one noun (person, place, thing). This can be expanded further later on, but for the initial search, limit it to one thing. I know that was confusing, so please allow me to provide an example:
You want to know where person X is. What you are trying to find is not "the area where person X is", you are trying to find person X. Then, after you have found them, and "see" them, you can try to focus on the area where they are. If you initially search for the area of person X, the clairvoyance becomes much more unreliable, and more time-consuming (unless you have trained yourself already to do the above steps).

Step 3: Clearly state to yourself what you wish to find

Tell your subconscious exactly what you are looking for. In my first exercises with this skill, I would mentally voice, "where is Joe?" Doing this helps your subconscious mind to receive its target. Also, as you think of your target, think of things that you associate with your target. Examples:
"Where is Joe?" accompanying this question with a picture of Joe, what Joe "feels like", or his psychic signature.
"Where are my keys?" accompanying this with the feel of your keys, the color of your keys, a specific key-chain, a metallic smell, etc.
"Where is the new house?" accompanying this with things that you know about the new house.
Please note: anything you associate with these things, or pictures you bring up, must fade away before you start "looking" at your target. Remember, you must have a blank slate in order to avoid AOL.

Step 4: Wait

Yes, I know that after all of this preparation you are anxious, but you have to wait for your subconscious to answer your question. This may come as a feeling ("pocket"), or a direction ("to your left") or a location ("Midwest USA"), but for me, I just have to wait and get this feeling.
In the beginning this could take as much as 5-10 minutes, but you get faster as your subconscious learns to view. It now takes me between 1-3 minutes to get an initial feeling.

Step 5: View

*Gasp* you knew it was coming, but didn't realize it took this much effort, did you? After you have the answer to the question ("pocket," "to your left," "Midwest USA" etc.), instruct your subconscious to "take you there", or "show it to you", and wait for whatever you see (this shouldn't take long).
So here's a brief run-down of one of my early clairvoyant experiences:

  • SunTzu clears his mind with a brief meditation
  • SunTzu assigns Joe as his Target
  • SunTzu asks his subconscious, "where is Joe?"
  • SunTzu waits until he finally receives information from the subconscious ("South, West, Right")
  • SunTzu instructs subconscious to "take me there"
  • SunTzu sees a picture of Joe, then focuses on the picture, and conducts his intended practice (scanning and shielding was that night).
In Review:

Relax, decide what you want to see/know, state it to your subconscious mind, wait for a response, then command it to show you.

Overall, it is a fairly simple technique that merely requires a decent amount of practice. (although it can be fairly "quick and dirty").

Guide to Sensitivity Management and Tuning.




Today we will learn how to increase our sensitivity to psychic energies. Many a times, I see complaints about not being able to sense energy being vented. Since it is quite a fundamental step to known how to handle your environment in a successful manner, I thought I would step up to the plate and add my two cents worth.

There are numerous ways to increase a persons' sensitivity. Simply being in the working field on a day-to-day basis is a sure way to up it at least half a notch. But seeing as how a generally outlaid routine might not work for everyone, and added to the fact that a lot of you are far too lazy to stick with the program to see if it eventually will bear fruit, I'll spoon feed you this time.

There are naturally other reasons why one might solely focus on increasing sensitivity without necessarily being lazy. One could just be more interested in a specific field of practice that demands a certain degree of sensitivity, such as telepathy. One could also have developed a personal quirk that makes them head blind, but otherwise quite capable of manipulating energy.

My method is simple, but does not magically raise your sensitivity in one stroke nor is it the be-all-end-all to the matter. It's a routine I found successful but as of yet has not been tested by anyone else, so there is no guarantee it will work for you. That said, let's start small.

The first steps

Have you ever noticed the subtle, but definite change in you when another person enters an otherwise empty room? It's hard to pinpoint and describe, but it is relatively easy to relate to as it happens to everyone. Let us for simplicity's sake call that your "awareness" picking up on their "awareness" to save us getting too technical. This is in my very humble opinion, a defense mechanism to alert us when possible friends and foes are heading in our direction. You could attribute this to hearing very faint sounds made from the approaching person, but when you increased your sensitivity, you will understand how hard it is to hear very faint sounds in a kilometer radius. I brought this up since I wanted to talk about your awareness of your immediate surroundings and yourself, our aim is to increase both the actual range of what this field can reach and amplifying it's ability to make these signals picked up known to us. That is what we will work with.

When you feel someone else's awareness you usually reach out a little, unconsciously or not, and try to "guess" who it is. If you do not know how to reach out to someone else's awareness you should practice doing so, and for all to keep with the program I might as well go over that too. To learn how to reach out you must first realize your own sphere of awareness, easy enough as you are always aware of it - it is the part that you define as "you" and sometimes slightly outside this core. This is as simple as I can put it to you so if you can't get it; you've flunked as three-year olds are able to recognize their own awareness. Now to push out, you just biofeedback your awareness outside your body, a few feet forward or half across the globe, but beginners should just stick to a few feet. Just feel a few feet forward similar to when you make a psiball but this time, you put your awareness in the place where the psiball would be. Don't bother about "projecting" any physical part of your body, that blobbed mass of awareness is well enough. If this sounds too hard to accomplish I think you are making a chicken out of a feather. It's not a real projection as you would in Remote Presence for example, but you simply pull some of your attention out of your head and put it the spot you see fit.

When I first started experimenting with this I found it easiest to feel my awareness like a fog that floats out to the desired spot. Now, I say "feel" because I prefer tactile visualization/guiding instead of the more visual visualization -- especially when working on areas that involve reaching out and working with your awareness, such as in telepathy. But you decide for yourself which method makes sense and produces a satisfactory result. Practice floating your concentration and part of your "feel" to a spot in front of you until you can do so in a matter of seconds.

Now you can move on to making your practice sessions a little more flexible since you can do them "on the spot" so to speak. Feel your way through your house, bend it around corners, put your awareness in one room and walk out of the room in question. Go upstairs or outside and feel the line that connects you to the room you put your awareness in. This is all easy children's play, but sometimes we forget how to do it. Again, this is not a full on projection to the specific spot, so don't expect any data to come to you as of yet, you are just getting used to leaving a little "beacon" of you behind. This in itself is an easy way to add to your overall sensitivity. Why is that? Well, seeing how I have not thoroughly tested it scientifically, and I doubt it's even worth the trouble, my humble theory is this: When you extend your awareness that usually is situated in your body outwards, your body adopts accordingly. At first you might not get much out of it, but with enough time spent sensing things outside your body instead of inside, your mind invents ways to cope with this "new" state of being and hence you grow more sensitive to psychic energies. You might start hearing incoming telepathic signals; you might awaken to precognitive bursts or develop a psychokinetic geisting. While the latter is not the most popular, I believe it is a direct manifestation of your mind/body learning how to navigate in unfamiliar territory.

This is in a nutshell, a good solid way to increase your sensitivity, by tricking your mind into adopting in a new environment.

Daily exercises

So, how do you integrate this into your daily schedule? I've listed a few easy exercises, which I also will go over, because I'm a nice guy, and filled with sugar.

  • Taking a walk-around in your house
  • Feeling the presence of people long before they arrive at your house
  • Getting peoples psychic signature
  • Finding your friends in large crowds
  • Scanning people
  • Easy telepathic exercises, pinging being one
The first one needs no explanation and is really just the same thing you did under your rudimentary training, but it keeps you from getting rusty and as it only takes a few seconds, you can do it wherever you are, so it fits an everyday exercise. The second one is also a no-brainer, it's the same thing that occurs naturally when you feel people entering the area where you are, but this time you will probably be more aware of them and if you let your awareness expand, you can catch them quite some distance from where you are. The opposite, shrinking your awareness, is a good counter-measure along with shielding if the situation becomes stressful. More on this later.

Now, the third exercise would require some basic telepathy skills, and some explanation on my part. First of, if you do not know how to retrieve a person's energy "id-print" there are lots of excellent articles around the web that explains them or at least gives you a good general idea on how to obtain them. But in short, it's that unique feeling you get about other people when coming in contact with them. If you have multiple friends, I bet that they do not "feel" exactly the same, now do they? If you take away your personal opinions about the person in question, and just try to feel them as a concept, you end up with their signature.

With your now flexible awareness, this is even easier. When you stretch out to someone you get their awareness, as well as their signature, their "sig". Now it is easy to confuse the two, and at first they appear to be one and the same and can be used as such, but with practice you notice that there is a difference between their "here I am"-awareness and their individual "glow". The reason why I brought up this exercise is because if you are familiar with your friends' signatures, and have a good idea on what their presence feels like, finding them in a crowd is a lot easier.

Scanning is a very useful ability, and it is just as easy as acquiring a sig, but it helps if you know how to acquire the aforementioned. Get the sig, stretch out to the target and feel your away around them. Float over their feel and touch it gently. With some practice, you should be able to gather a lot of useful information about your target. With your awareness you can see what the target is up to, what shields he/she has active and what psi activity is going on. You can also read the target's own field which sometimes carry over surface thoughts, emotions, intentions, etc. Although you might find it hard to make sense of the blob of information on your first try, rest assure that it will become increasingly easy to sort that out.

The telepathic exercises. Now this will combine using signatures and the targets awareness. This calls for some abstract concepts so bear with me as I go through it. First you clear your mind and let your awareness stretch out a few feet around you; flex it some in case it is rusty. Take a few breaths and focus on your awareness and your concentration. Forget your body, as you won't need it right now. Now decide on a target, preferably your patient and trustworthy partner, and retrieve their sig, their individual feel. Now when you have that to "zoom in on" you try to recreate their awareness and place it in your room. Now this can be hard if you've never done it with this partner before, so if you do not feel their awareness you should work with their sig for a few sessions until it reveals the target's awareness. Sigs are good for a lot of things, one being that they can leak such information. However, for simplicity's sake let us say you know what their awareness feel like. If you met people that day, you know what another person's general awareness feels like. Or, if you have a close friend who you are used to feeling, you can base that as a blueprint for the target. So with this in mind you open yourself up a little further, and feel the target's awareness in your room, but try to keep them at an arm's length. It is very easy and tempting to let their awareness intermingle with yours, especially when you are already "connected" with them through their sig, but try not to. It can create a link, which can be hard to shake once the session is over and in all fairness is beyond the scope of this article. So just keep the target at an arm's length or more. Pinging comes naturally when you reach out at the target, and if they are the least bit sensitive, they will feel you, and hopefully reach back at you.

So why use this method when using telepathy? Well, for a practicing telepath I found it hard to juggle the target's sig and getting the message across. Most of the time I would drop their sig, the telephone line, while trying to project what I wanted to communicate, which resulted in a glitch and probably irritating experience in my target. But when I recreated the target's awareness, I found it much easier to relax. Their awareness was like a foggy nightstand where I could place the telephone, while scribbling down my message. It basically makes the session that much easier to handle since you manage the connection with you awareness instead of keeping it alive with a picture in your head. That is as easy as I can put it, but since we are talking about familiar concepts most can relate to; hopefully you will have no trouble getting the picture.

Trancing

This section delves a little deeper into the subject of expanded awareness, and as such might be over the top of some people's heads. Trances can be very powerful tools if you can operate them, and since you have a much greater control of your psi and your awareness from it, despite what the seemingly drugged physical exterior might show, they are very handy things indeed. I myself favour the overload trance for two reasons. One being that I feel I can operate in way that suits my current needs and second, because that is the trance I can do on the spot in a second or two. This is something I have always been able to do so I can't vouch for anyone else. And since I've always been able to do them, it's hard for me to explain exactly how to do it, but I'll give it a try.

Visualize through your mind's eye, an ant's perspective. Do not just picture it in your head but see it, without using your physical eyes of course. Insert a common object. I preferred a screw when I was a kid, and look at it from your miniature perspective. Each part of it is absolutely huge and you can feel its enormous mass. Use your awareness to feel the huge dimensions of it, each crack it has. Now make it bigger, and bigger and bigger until it is as big as a house, but maintain your sense of dimensions, it should be swindling. Now just keep on zooming out, until you have a bird's perspective, then zoom out even further, until you are outside of this planet. What you might feel now is your core, your awareness, spreading out in the room but not in the way you manually do. This is much stronger. Depending on how much you zoomed out you might start to pick up a lot of people's awareness's and feel waves of emotions that are not your own. You will feel very elevated, and have trouble forming that endless stream of thought that normally scurries around in your head. Now this might sound like a free trip to vegetable-state but it isn't. While in this state your normal state of being is not concentrated in your body/head like usual, but instead, the state you are in when you have projected your awareness outwards, is the default state.

So what you have here is a projected state of awareness times ten, and it's a no brainer that telepathy and energy work in general, is so much easier in this state. In fact, keeping stable connections in this state is very easy. It's not a question of connecting to a line here; it's being a mass of water and letting other puddles of water float into you. It might sound strange if you haven't experienced it, but that's as easy as I can put it. I'll direct you to Google search Kmiller's articles for further methods of inducing trance, but generally experimenting with projecting your awareness, makes it easier for you to fall into a self-induced trance as well as quickly switch from Beta to Alpha when you need it.  Eventually the state can stay permanent, which is a different situation altogether.

Pros and Cons regarding sensitivity

You thought getting sensitive was all good and ice cream? Well that's what most people think, merely because they are not sensitive and don't know any better. I myself was not very sensitive when I started out and like most was not fully aware of the consequences. But don't worry. There are repercussions and counter-measures.

First, when you grow more sensitive you might start hearing people's random thoughts. Now this might sound like a good thing, and it probably is if you can fully control the level of input, which I mostly cannot - if I am not shielded they come. Usually they are not full-blown thoughts unless the person in question projects it very clearly. It is often projected attitudes about you, their environment, and their family, whatever they are thinking. So stressful situations become even more stressful when you feel other people's stress. Also, if people in your environment are particularly interested in you, you can feel their thoughts like a red-hot needle jammed into your head, which you are not always up for. It's similar to being hugged when you really do not feel like it.

This is not limited to the immediate vicinity, I can no longer use chat programs without shielding first. I rarely get thoughts from random people, but I almost always feel the expressed intention when they write something, the intention being someone will read it and find it funny, interesting, rude, whatever. It's more concentrated when someone says something directed to me and can only be described as the feeling of missing an appointment you made, it's a feeling that yanks at you and if not shielded makes it impossible for me to concentrate on webpage reading. There are of course more full-blown results of being sensitive, such as hearing people's expressed thoughts, their pain, their anger, etc. You may even awaken geistings, which might manifest into other forms (There is only Zul) if you are drunk enough and pissed enough in combination with other things.  The easiest way to counter-measure is to center your awareness back into you, and shield. A general shield is all right at first but sooner or later you will want to learn how to program them so they filter out some people, but not all.

Since I mentioned trancing, I might warn you that trancing, seeing as how they are much deeper than the projected awareness exercise, might make your mind adopt a lot quicker, with side effects you might not like. Personally, precognitive abilities blossom and die in a cycle that corresponds to how often I trance. If I start trancing on a daily basis for a set period of time, precognitive messages will come to me the next day and fade after half a week. This might sound neat but I do not care much for it. Commercials are tedious enough without knowing their specific order and a boring day turns even more dull if you already know what is going to happen well before it does. Also, trances are harder to shake off and it's not a pleasurable feeling to still be scattered across the room, unable to motivate yourself to form a thought for well over ten minutes.

Everything comes with a price, so be careful when treading on unknown grounds.

Guide to Learning Empathy



Empathy, in the psionic world, means to perceive the emotions of another being. Personally, I sort of "discovered" empathy after a while of practicing other psionic skills; it wasn't something I was trying to do, it just came eventually from messing with other things.  It is among one of the worst skills to pick up, but like riding a bike it is impossible to unlearn once you've figured out the knack of it.  Personally, never wished I learned it.

Before learning empathy, you should know what it entails. Personally, I am glad that I picked up empathy. I find it very useful on a day-to-day basis, and it only annoys me once in a while. I can see how others would find it very troublesome though. If you don't want to know what other people are feeling emotionally, then don't learn empathy. Don't learn it just to be cool or because you want to "master every skill!!!". Empathy can be very hard to deal with at times, so if you don't want to be bothered, don't learn it.

It's hard for me to describe how I use empathy, because it's hard for me to remember when I didn't use empathy. I can't imagine not using it - it seems like one of my primary senses now. Imagine not being able to hear anymore. Sure, you wouldn't get annoyed at alarm clocks or bad music, but you would miss out on so much. That is how I view empathy.

Before learning empathy, you should know how to shield. Shielding is your defense against becoming bogged down from empathy. In large public places, like movie theaters, or malls, it's important to make sure you don't receive every emotion of every person around you. It's also important to be able to block one specific person that might be annoying you, or making you feel depressed. Or block everyone except one specific person. Shielding is what allows you to control empathy, and control is required if you want to maintain a healthy mind.

My warnings are legit, trust me, but in the end it's up to you to decide, and to deal with your decision.  You will find out though that even the 'best' out there are typically lying douche bags with conflicting emotions that may or may not help you in making a decision.  If there is always one feeling you will receive from 99.9999999999% you ever meet, male or female, is this:  "what do I get out of it?".  What they feel will 100% of the times not match what's coming out of their mouths.  Depending on your maturity level, you can take this in one of five ways.

1)  "Boo hoo" and wear your heart on your sleeve to get it stomped on.
2)  Learn how to use info to your advantage to turn the table by playing possum and scripting them.
3)  Just laugh a lot, because you understand how stupid their nonsense is.
4)  If they ask, help them but keep an arm's distance.
5)  Ignore them and muddle on with what you need to accomplish. 

The last one is a very difficult position to accept for, again 99.9999999999% of people that have the knack will always fall back into dogmatic patterns of how they approach their own position in the assumption their understanding of a solution is complete.  Most of the times baffling themselves with religion, a god of some kind, anything but the truth of where the source of their problems come from or stop to think about if their position has the merit required to assist.

Remember this:  A scorpion always stings.  A cat will bite.  A bird will fly.  A person will always prefer to listen to their own lies or repeat the lies taught to them by others.  Do not get involved in other people's drama or scripts, they've got their own issues.  Their OWN issues, up to them to work it out 99.99999999999% of the time.

I cannot stress this single point enough.  It is important to note that before approaching learning how to harness empathy that it is NOT your job to 'fix' someone.  All you can do is point out how someone can improve their situation if they ASK.  It is not your job to run around shitting in other people's cornflakes unless trolling or doing it for a lark.  Most people are very comfortable in the corners they paint themselves into, it is not anyone's job in the universe to fix stupid, piddly-ass problems that are easily solved.


Now that I've effectively bored you with cautious chit chat, let's jump into how to do it. 

I personally don't prescribe to the "chakra" theory on things, but when I actually practice empathy, I do feel it in my heart area. When I practice telepathy, on the other hand, I feel it in my head. For that reason, when I actively practice receiving emotions from someone, I visualize a link coming out of my heart, and connecting to the targets heart.  For some people though, their link never stops probing because of obviously mis-wiring somewhere in their lives.  To most people, these people are usually referred to as emotional doormats.

Imagine the link coming out of your heart area, and hitting your target in the heart area. Don't be too rough; gently connect to the person. Then just sit back and wait for some feelings to come through. Beforehand it's usually wise to note how you're feeling, so when new information comes in, you can tell your own feelings from your target's feelings.

Actively connecting to someone and trying to read their emotions is a bit different than passively sitting around and receiving random emotions. To passively receive emotions, the best advice I can give is to just open yourself up to it. I know it sounds weird and a little fluffy, but that's how I did it. It's just a matter of relaxing, sitting back, and opening up to the world around you. Don't visualize anything, just relax, and maybe think to yourself "I wonder what Johnny is feeling?". Feel your emotions, notice changes, and remain passive. It's hard to teach a passive skill because you don't really DO anything. It's passive Blah.

If all else fails, just keep practicing actively receiving emotions from other people, then try to see if you can do it passively. If you have shields up (which you should), program them to receive emotions. Maybe try (carefully) taking them down (if you think you can handle it). Work slowly, be cautious, but try things out too. Stay relaxed and see what happens. Maybe nothing, maybe something? Who knows?

Empathy, in essence, is pretty simple. I think it's something everyone has an instinctive feel for. It's just a matter of exercising it and keeping it under control. Open up, try it out, practice with your buddies, and have fun.  If you can't keep it in line and your life is a mess, you need to learn shields and self control.

Concerning Blocks and Internal Shielding



It is possible to erect Shields inside one's mind, in addition to the more usual defenses around it. This is a somewhat specialized technique, and probably only of limited use. Quite possibly the most obvious application is to keep one's most private memories private when mind-linking; while the most common is the subconscious repression of traumatic memories, as an internal defense mechanism...but the latter wanders into the field of psychiatry, and is well beyond the scope of an article of this kind.

A nice basic internal Shield is a slightly elastic Mirror configuration, with a smooth, glossy surface that bounces would-be intrusions harmlessly off its exterior. Such a Shield would dent inward a little if pressed, but immediately resume its normal form once the intruding thought-form was sent on its way.

Such internal Shields are constructed in the same manner as a regular Shield, and, in theory, any Shield you can construct normally you can make internally, too. In practice, however, the variety of internal Shields is more limited. This is the inside of your mind we're talking about here. In fact, some kinds would be physically inside your skull. You'll feel it any time the Shields touch anything (with a couple of odd exceptions), so you'll want something that's comfortable, right? Heavy-duty, strike-back-on-contact combat Shields could cause problems.

It may be wise to set a time limit when constructing an interior Shield, rather than simply wait until you want to drop it, to deal with dispelling it. Or, better yet, set it so that it will remain for a certain amount of time or until you choose to dispel it, whichever comes first. Otherwise, it is too easy to mess up the setting and have your own thoughts bouncing off it, thus unable to drop the thing, and that would not be good. (Can you tell that I speak from experience here? No need for you to repeat my error....)

A similar sort of block can be produced hypnotically, either in one's self or in another person. I tried a self-induced one out of curiosity, and it formed the sort of default-pattern Shield I mentioned earlier.

Dr. G.H. Estabrooks, in his "Hypnosis Comes of Age"*, mentions the use of a similar-sounding block in 'training' a kind of mind-controlled spy-courier in World War I. He took it a step further, and locked the blocking in place to prevent interference with, or even knowledge of, the block by anyone other than the courier's two handlers....specifically including the courier himself. Whether the block/shield produced no sensation in itself, or whether the courier had been hypnotically commanded not to feel it was not indicated in the article. The courier had been programmed to forget that he'd ever been hypnotized, and he had no idea that he was working as a spy, so it could have gone either way.

In fact, I am only guessing at the similarity in structure between the blocking Dr. Estabrooks' methods produced, and those under discussion here, based on my own experience (self-induced and otherwise) and descriptions of similar phenomena by other people who have experienced them. In the case of such descriptions of blocked memories, obviously the block eventually failed.**

It happens sometimes that blocking, of whatever nature, cracks or shatters after a period of months or years. If you have cause to construct such a block in your own mind ~ or someone else's, for that matter ~ you may want to bear that in mind.

Common and Not-So-Common Shield Constructs

The best offense is a good defense. We've all heard this cliché associated with things like sports or martial arts, but it applies to the world of psionics as well. The most fundamental way of protecting oneself against the outside world is a shield. Just like psi balls, they can be programmed to do an unlimited number of tasks, ranging from simply stopping negative energy from entering your body, to interpreting different types energy and responding to each on an individual basis. The average psion doesn't have a dictionary of hundreds of shields in their head for different situations - we each have a small database of regularly practiced shields that can be "tweaked" slightly to fit a given scenario. I, myself, use roughly three different types of shields on a given day, but also have a few advanced shields in mind "just in case".

The most common shield I use is referred to as the Bubble Shield.

Bubble Shield

Bubble Shields are easy to make and can hold up against everyday annoyances. I primarily use them for blocking "normal" humans' empathetic projections. Regulating how solid the shield is dictates how much empathetic information I receive from my environment. I've personally had trouble using them for blocking telepathic information, but keep in mind, my telepathic experiences are very limited. Bubble Shields are also useful against humans who subconsciously leach energy from others. Basically, in those situations, your shield has to only be more powerful than the person's next to you. The "leach" will generally go for the easy target and not even bother with you.

I use two techniques to create Bubble Shields (though sometimes I do outlandish things just to spice it up little ).

The first is a simple visualization of a shell building from the ground to up, around your body, and finally meeting up over your head. Eggshells and plastic bubbles are typical visualizations.   




The second generates the shield from inside the abs, and expands it until it's around the entire body. This is useful for pushing energy off of you, while the first might trap it inside the shield.
Unfortunately, you can't just learn the Bubble Shield and be set for life. If you engage in any psychic combat, you'll find that your Bubble Shield doesn't amount to crap. A focused attack can go right through or shatter it, depending on the attackers skill and objective. Reconstructing and maintaining it during a fight isn't worth the effort. As mentioned above, the Bubble Shield is very basic. It's great for everyday problems, but for more serious events, it's wiser to make a better type of shield, than trying to hold together a small Bubble Shield.







One shield I'd like to discuss has a specific purpose. I invented it a year or so ago when I nearly got hit by lightning a couple times in a row, and still use it every time there's a storm outside. It has no formal name as far as I know, but I call it the Diffuse Shield.

Diffuse Shield

As implied above, I use this shield for fending off lightning. It started when I was first dabbling in energy manipulation. The first time, I was home alone at night, and it was storming pretty heavy out. I was playing around with psi balls and throwing them around, when I bolt of lighting hit within 30 yards of my house. I didn't see it directly, but everything lit up (and I mean EVERYTHING - I was blinded for about twenty seconds), and my entire house rattled and vibrated. I was scared shitless, of course, so I stopped practicing psi balls until the storm was over. Thinking it could have been a fluke, I didn't worry about it after that.




After a couple of similar experiences, I didn't take any action until the last time (I think almost a year ago exactly). I was outside, and it wasn't storming at all. There were clouds above, but no rain and no lightning. I suddenly heard a "click click click" sound and looked up. For some reason I dove into the garage (I don't remember seeing anything), and the lightning nearly hit me again. As before, everything shook and our house was rattling like crazy. Being nearly hit while it wasn't even raining made me think it wasn't just a "coincidence". I didn't know exactly how the lightning was targeting me, but I figured that I must be giving off a different charge (of some sort) than my surrounding environment. To solve this, I kept my internal charge the same (whatever it was), but made a shield to "diffuse" my charge into my environments charge. Any energy I emitted would be the same as my environment, but my energy would still be the same. I assume it's worked because I've yet to have another experience like that, but I do have to create the shield every time it starts to look like it's going to rain. Of course, I'd rather do that than get struck by lightning, so I don't complain .

The technique is simple and the shield can be created in about the same amount of time as a Bubble Shield. First I create a thick Bubble Shield (not necessarily strong, just thick). Then I push some parts out to form a spike, and some parts in to form a spike. When I'm finished, it's similar to a furry ball - the spikes becoming so thin they're like fibers. It's made very "loose" and the fibers flow around freely. (I apologize for the cheesy animation , it's much easier to visualize than it is to draw).

I've yet to find another use for this shield other than the one stated. It'll fall apart in an hour or so (depending how you program it), and I can't think of any way it would be useful in a combat situation. Nonetheless, it's served it's purpose: I've yet to be struck . If you find yourself in a situation similar to mine, give this shield a try.

While the Diffuse Shield is made for a very specific purpose, the next shield I'm going to discuss can be used for a variety of applications. It's commonly referred to as the Mirror Shield because of its ability to bounce incoming energy in the opposite direction.

Mirror Shield

To be completely honest, I have little experience with this type of shield. I've used it on occasion while "sparring" with people, but I usually like creating something more complex (mainly because the Mirror Shield is kinda boring, in my opinion ). Despite my lack of interest, it is a popular and useful shield.

The technique is predictable given the name of the shield, but I'll go over it to be complete. Create it as you would any other shield, but program it to reflect incoming attacks. This can be accomplished by a nice "mirror" visualization or a slick silver color.
There are some pitfalls to this shield that can trick-up a newbie. The first is to make sure you create it so you can send energy out through the shield. It's no good if you go to attack and your attack bounces off the inside and nails yourself. Another is to make sure you make it's on the outside of all your other shields. The reason for this is that if you create it inside a Bubble Shield, for example, and the attacker breaks through part of the Bubble Shield, the energy will bounce off, and hit the Bubble Shield again on the way out. Two hits with one stone.












Though I personally don't find this shield "fun", it is very useful. A skilled psion can easily fend off a series of attacks with this one shield. The next shield is another simple concept, but a little harder to construct, in my opinion. I call it the Marshmallow Shield, though I'm not sure if that's the formal name .

Marshmallow Shield

The Marshmallow Shield is a thick, gooey, and sticky type of shield. Its primary purpose is to absorb attacks and hold them there for later. It can be programmed to de-patternize the simple attack or just spit it back out. It's hard to break because of its nature, but at best it can slow down a skilled attack.

One downfall (for me) is that it takes some time to construct properly. The visualization is simple, but it just requires a lot of energy. Basically, you want to picture a thick (probably at least one foot) wall of goo. Use semi-melted marshmallows for visualization. If you construct it in layers (which I do sometimes, to make it easier), you'll want to make sure the layers melt into each other completely - they can be a pain and separate on their own sometimes. You might want to put some Bubble Shields on the outside and inside of it if you're making it really gooey. It should hold it's own shape for some time, but it might require some maintenance depending on how you make it.






As I stated above - it can take a while to make, even if you are somewhat skilled. It's not particularly good at handling sharp objects, but it's not meant to be used as the only line of defense. Combine it with other defensive shields to provide better protection. After it's made it can be repaired somewhat easily, so you can keep it up for long periods of time.

One shield that can be combined well with the Marshmallow Shield is the Force-Bubble Shield. It takes longer to construct, but provides some of the best protection.

Force-Bubble Shield

In my opinion, the Force-Bubble Shield is one of the coolest out there . Just recently I've been experimenting with Force-Bubble Constructs, and the shield version is very useful and holds up against a lot of force. I can be used in combat or in any situation where you need to physically put force on an object. The downside is that it is pretty advanced and takes a lot of time to make (in most cases). Skill in telekinesis is useful.




Force Bubble Animation     The visualization is fairly simple but tedious. The one I use is to visualize a bunch of "psi-bricks" stacking up and forming a brick wall around myself. You'll also need some "psi-mortar" as well to stick it all together.

Also, to incorporate the idea of force, I visualize a bunch of arrows pointing outwards on the bricks. In physics, force is usually shown by an arrow, so it works well for me (having a somewhat scientific mind). Think of something that means "force" to you and use it. The key isn't necessarily the visualization, but the practice. This shield takes a lot of skill to construct properly.

The Force-Bubble Shield is extremely useful and powerful. While the previous combat shields address the issue of dealing with an attack, the last shield's purpose is to help you not get in situations where you'll get attacked. It's known as the Cloaking Shield, or in some cases, the "Hedge" Shield.

Cloaking Shield

I find this shield the most fun to play with. With it, you can walk up to someone while their looking right at you and scare the crap out of them (yes, that is fun! ). Previous experience with telepathic suggestion will help you with this shield's properties.

To create it, you'll want to form a mental image of what you want to project onto others. You can project yourself as "invisible" or something static (for example, a hedge, box, etc...). Whatever you choose, you should have a clear understanding of what the objects energy is like. You'll want to create a shield that emits this same type of energy. The goal isn't to physically make yourself look like a hedge, but rather to get the attacker to glance over you. Broadcast something like "Nothing to see here, just a hedge".

Another form of this shield would be to emit a "normal" human's energy field. When the attacker sees you, they'll either underestimate your ability, or ignore you completely. Obviously, visualizations of whatever you want to become work well for forming this shield. Remember though, you're not just creating a shield, your clouding the mind of your opponent. This is where telepathy is useful. Incorporate telepathic suggestion and broadcasting into the shield. Visualize your opponent becoming confused.

This isn't an easy shield to make, but it is useful. It doesn't take that long to make, just skill. With anything, practice makes perfect, and this shield is fun to practice.

Conclusion

Shields are essential to psions - from newbie to advanced. One last note: keep in mind that the two shields are better than one. Combine shields and layer them wisely to significantly increase your protection. Any shield can be cracked, but having backups for the backups ensures you'll have time to react to an attack.

General Outline To Shielding



What is Shielding?

Shielding, in psychic terms, is a form of protection from outside influences such as psychic attack and empathic overload. A shield is a layer of energy that you surround yourself with and that allows you to regulate what energy will affect you and how.

How do I make one?

The simplest form of shielding is a simple boundary shield. To make one, imagine your skin becoming full of energy, and imagine energy coming out of the top of your head and pouring down your body. Wherever this energy touches your energized skin, it solidifies. It turns into a solid shield of energy that can protect you. There. You have now made your first shield (albeit a weak one Smile).

What other types of shields are there?

Lots. The most interesting in my opinion are the combat shields. These shields are defensive/offensive shields that are used in a psychic combat situation. There are also camouflage shields, which although very hard to master, render the user invisible or at least hard to find to other psychics. Shields can be used for many different things; I store my constructs in my shields. But you have to know what type of shields to use when. A boundary shield (like the one above) would be useful if all you wanted to do was prevent yourself from being empathetically overloaded. To do this, as you make your shield just "program" your shield/imagine it filtering out all empathic signals as you make. For a mirror shield that would block out all energy signals and send them away, imagine this as you create it. I tend to almost mentally "talk" to my shield when I program it. Intent is almost everything. Almost. For more advanced shields, however, there is a factor of the structure of the shield as you create it.

Cool. But can you have more than one layer?

Of course. If you make yourself a combat shield, it would actually be far wiser to have several shields on top of each other, each to do a different job. This will constitute a shield system.

What are the main factors affecting shields?

Concentration and energy. Amount of energy, that is. Some shields require less concentration and more energy, some more concentration and less energy, etc. An absorption shield would require a lot of concentration but not so much energy; you'd have to program it to

  • Detect incoming signals
  • Perceive whether they are hostile or friendly
  • If hostile, the signals must be caught and depatternized
  • And must finally be absorbed into the shield

All this would take quite a bit of concentration and programming skill. Also, there is the skill factor. The more experienced you become with working with a particular shield type, the less concentration is required for it. Kind of like the computer game Diablo - the more experienced you get with a spell, the less it takes to do that spell.

Any last tips?

Once you've made your first shield, keep it up 24/7. Regenerate it several times a day. Once you can actually feel your shield on you, this means you've put enough energy into it. Now try something slightly more complicated, or try upgrading your shield, but using the skin-charging method I described above.


An Introduction to Psionic Shielding




Once again, it is useful to define one's terms. In a field where very little has been openly discussed until recently, it is natural that there should be some variety in the words used to express the concepts, varying according to tradition and physical location. In this context, "Shielding" refers to the construction and maintenance of psychic, psionic, and/or magical defenses around one's person, most often within or along the 'edges' of the aura. Much as felis concolor is known in various regions as 'cougar', 'puma', 'mountain lion', 'panther', 'mountain varmint', 'gentleman longtail' and so on; so too are Shields also known as 'personal wards', 'bubbles', 'force-bubbles', 'force-fields', 'barrier-shields', 'psychic defenses', 'shells', 'cocoons', et cetera. Many of these terms may also refer of other kinds of defenses depending upon the usage at the time.

How important Shielding is depends upon one's situation. Obviously, anyone unfortunate enough to be embroiled in psionic combat needs thorough knowledge and a high level of skill in several kinds of Shields. People with a natural tendency toward telepathy or empathy, but otherwise secure, can probably get away with learning two or three. Because many telepaths and empaths need to Shield almost continuously, they get lots of practice, but are likely to favor the less fancy forms that maintain themselves. Those who find themselves the victim of a psychic vampire generally tend to something in between these two groups. Everyone else involved in psychic or magical activities probably ought to learn at least one Shield, but is most likely to use it only on an as-needed basis. The mind has rudimentary Shields that occur naturally, and these seem to be sufficient for the average person in a normal situation.

Shielding is sufficiently standard a skill that practically any book on how to do magic or psionics, and most on psychic development, includes instruction on at least one method. There is little agreement on exactly when to start learning it. (Personally, I figure it ought to be taught in kindergarten, but I must admit to being seriously biased in this matter.) This little article is about psionic Shielding, simply because that is what I know, being neither mage nor witch. If you can produce a psi ball, you can make at least a simple psionic Shield. Once you can do a basic one, the rest is just practice, study, and playing.

Start with choosing your favorite method of making a psi ball. Next, consider exactly what you want your Shield to do. An example of a nice, basic, Shield intention is to "keep unwanted thoughts and energies from passing through from the outside, and keeping all but deliberate Sendings within". Now, form a psi ball while concentrating on our 'intention'. Put lots of energy into it. Allow the psi ball to grow, first enveloping your hands, then gradually your whole body, and a goodly amount of your aura as well. Add more energy until it feels nice and strong. At this stage, visualize a shell forming around the edge of the ball, which is probably no longer round, but might be. Visualize the shell as being made of something strong that makes you feel safe inside it: it could be bullet-proof glass, bright light, titanium steel, diamond, thick bark,...whatever feels right to you. Make sure your shell is big enough not to make you feel claustrophobic. When its shape, size, and material all feel right to you, will it to stay put without further attention until you choose to dispel it. If you want to, you can state these intentions aloud, or even make it into a little rhyming ditty; or it can be entirely mental.

Dispelling the Shield is a simple matter. The method I use most often is to visualize the shell dissolving into what look like 'pixels' which gently collapse to the ground and are absorbed back into the Earth, while intending to release the Shield. This is often called 'dropping' one's Shields. Don't take the 'drop' part too literally, however. Letting a Shield collapse too quickly or too violently can result in a truly monstrous headache, and occasionally knock you senseless. Visualize it rolling up like an automatic garage door, or rising open, or dissolving into nothing, or fading out...whatever you like. Just be sure the process is nice and gentle. As in the casting of the shell, a spoken component is optional. Likewise, you can incorporate physical gestures, if you want to.

Another common form of basic Shield is cast by, after going through the preliminary preparations, visualizing the protective energy forming a bell-shape or dome of thick glass or light around oneself. The dome may be called into existence whole, or gradually 'grown' around oneself.

If you favor more solid-seeming construction, picture building the barrier, bit by bit, of bricks or stones, or sheets of metal being welded together.

As you can see, the construction of a Shield can have many variations. So can the Shield's programmed intentions. Rather than simply blocking negative energies, you can tell your Shield to absorb them to fuel itself. Or, you can make the outside mirrored, to send the negative energies back where they came from. For combat, it can even 'fight back', but that is a specialized application outside the scope of this article. Combat Shield configurations are certainly not for everyday use.

There are other specialized applications. For example, there are times when avoiding notice is desirable. Concentrating on diverting unwanted attention, on being totally uninteresting, while casting the Shield is often very effective. In fact, go ahead and concentrate on not being seen at all. I am not the only one who has used this to avoid physical attack.

On the other hand, sometimes giving the impression of being more capable than you are is the way to go, the way some animals puff themselves up to scare away an enemy. "Tell" your Shields to give off an 'aura' of strong, graceful self-assurance. There is no need to be cocky or obnoxious about it. the idea is to avoid a fight, not provoke one. No matter how good you are, there's always someone better.

If you happen to be 'into' visible psi balls, you may find it amusing to make your Shields visible, too, sometimes. They can glow, or take on any color or appearance you happen to feel like. Use your imagination. Most of these nifty special effects take a lot of effort and energy, so you probably will not want to use this variation often, nor for very long periods of time.

Among friends, extending a bit of a tendril from your Shield to brush gently against your buddy's Shield is a friendly hello. It is a little like a cat rubbing his cheek against his person, in effect if not in exact meaning. Just how friendly a greeting this is probably varies from place to place, and it is far from universal, so check local customs first, if there are any. Snuggling your mind, and therefore your Shields, up against someone else's is a greeting that goes rather beyond a friendly 'hello'.

In an emergency, it is quite possible to Shield another person's mind, in much the same way that you can Shield your own. This is a relatively advanced variation, and outside of combat itself very rare this is an unusual sort of situation: and exhausted and overloaded empath in the city, for example; or a telepath in poltergeist difficulties in the midst of his or her own personal tornado. Shielding someone else is a possibility of which you should be aware. However, it is unlikely that you would ever be in a position to require its use.

Training with Psi Balls




The little multi-purpose energy constructs that have come to be known as psi-balls have an amazing variety of applications, ranging from the silly and frivolous to serious and even ~ gasp ~ useful. This little article outlines a smattering of these. I won't go into how to construct a psi-ball because that is covered in some depth elsewhere on the site.

The most obvious use for the Mark-1, Mod-0 psi-ball is the practice of energy manipulation. Constructing a little sphere of energy is a nice, relatively easy way to start one's study of energetic constructs, and as an exercise for 'keeping in shape' it has much to recommend it: almost infinite possibilities for variation, relatively simple, can be done with fairly low power levels, unlikely to annoy the neighbors.... It is also useful in the practice of perceiving energy, which for some people is a more difficult task than manipulating it.

For some reason, there is a wide-spread fascination with the ability to produce a visible psi-ball. As a rule, a psi-ball visible to normal sight is dense and uses a lot more energy than one that can 'only' be felt, or seen psychically. A visible psi-ball can be just about any color. If you want to use it for reading, however, stick to pale neutrals. Neon green and dark purple are not conducive to legibility.

Another amusement in the category of 'how to annoy your neighborhood physicist' is to turn your psi-ball into a slightly more complex construct. The possibilities here boggle the imagination, and you are limited only by your ingenuity and skill. Nice simple constructs would be things like geometric shapes. Slightly more difficult are clouds and semi-solid objects; for some reason, a light bulb like those used in comics to express an idea comes to mind. For the ambitious, there are moving, rainbow-colored spiders and puppies apparently constructed of wind.

If you want to attract someone's attention, you can use a psi-ball to 'ping' them. Hold the intention of what you want to do (a tap on the shoulder, perhaps) while forming the psi-ball, then toss it gently at the intended target.

Similarly, by changing the intent slightly, you can brush against a friend's mind in greeting, using a psi-ball. Depending upon how friendly a greeting you wish to convey, you might also include an emotion ~ fondness, for example ~ in the intent. To do this, remember how such an emotion felt to you in the past, recalling it as vividly as you can, as you are focusing your intent. It may help to first recall to mind a situation in which you felt that emotion, and then, once you feel it clearly, dismiss the rest of the memory.

It is even possible to relay thoughts and entire blocks of knowledge this way, in a form of primitive telepathy. The more complex the thought, the more concentration you'll need. Unless there is a good reason to do otherwise, you'd probably do best to start by Sending simple emotions and short thoughts, rather than explaining the relative merits of rival theories of Quantum Mechanics.

The reverse is another possibility. Using a psi-ball to read another person's emotions, energy level, surface thoughts, and so on is accomplished in a similar manner. Construct a psi-ball while concentrating on your intention, and send the psi-ball to brush through your target's energy field, then have the psi-ball return to you with the information. The tricky part is learning to interpret that information, without contaminating it with your own thought patterns. It comes with practice and experience.

Getting back to the more frivolous side of things, psi-balls can be used to play catch or for juggling, flattened into frisbees, and formed into shuttlecocks for badminton. You can also roll them into darts, or condense them into marbles and pool balls. A psi-ball 'yoyo' can be lots of fun, and it has no string to tangle Smile.

In some circles, psi-balls are regarded as little more than an exercise in focus. To really practice focusing, move the psi-ball around the room, perhaps forming it into an airplane and doing loops, rolls, and other aerobatic maneuvers.

You can also change the temperature of a psi-ball. You can, if you want to, put a lot of energy into a small, condensed psi-ball to produce a hot little fireball. Conversely, you can will the psi-ball to be cool. The latter is useful for soothing headaches, swellings, fevers, and such.

With enough energy and focused intent, it is even possible to affect actual healing, knitting broken bones back together or closing wounds. It is completely unnecessary for the person being healed to believe in the possibility of these things, although such belief certainly couldn't hurt.

No doubt by now you'll have thought of other things to do with your psi-ball skills other than conjuring one, thinking 'Oh, isn't that cool' and dispelling it again. These ideas here are just to get you started.

Throwing and Sending Psiballs



Lots of people have questions on psiballs and one of the popular ones is about throwing psiballs or sending them to people. There are many ways to do this, but this article will show you how to do it with a little Visualization and Programming! Before you throw a psiball you should be able to make one and shell it efficiently.

There's a game called "Pass the Construct". What you do is you make a psi shape such as: Sphere, Cube, Pyramid or a Cylinder (Sometimes you can add feeling but lets keep it simple). And then you send it to the person's hand.

You may ask, "How do you send a construct so far", well the answer is simple: PROGRAMMING.

I've sent psiballs all over the place, around my house, around my planet or even all around the neighbourhood. So lets say you make a sphere and you are sending it to someone in their left hand here's what you do.

First of all you need to make your good solid psiball. Then when you are making it you need to add a little bit of programming. Program the psiball to go to whomsever left hand and then make the shell do the same thing and also program it to protect the psiball. It helps some people when they are programming the shell to protect the psiball to do it for some time duration like 5 minutes. If that's what you need to do then do it. Then all you have to do is let it go and it should "fly" to the person's left hand. The person should receive it and should be able to tell you what it is. Sending constructs can be useful for more then just games; I've sent constructs to people to get other constructs off of them and other things. Sounds easy enough right Smile? Let's get on to throwing it.

Throwing a psiball is a lot like send it the only difference is that you are actually trying to hit a spot (like a head or a chair) instead of going to or landing on someone's hand. You still program it you just need another useful tool: VISUALIZATION. For most people visualization isn't hard but for some it is. I will show you two ways of throwing a psiball the first one will be with very little visualization and the second with more visualization.

Ok so now that you got sending down you can start throwing. Once again make your good solid psiball and get ready to program it. Let's say you going to hit someone's stomach. Program it to hit the person's stomach and while programming this, visualize a stomach (I usually just visualize a gray one) and then visualize a psiball hitting that that stomach over and over keep repeating it in your mind. Then program your shell to hit the person's stomach and protect the psiball (like you did for sending). Then let go and it should go "fly" and hit the person stomach. Well that works for some people but other people, me being one of them, have bad aim. One way I found out that helps is to arch your path. This involves a little more visualization but it's not too hard so don't worry.

So make your solid psiball, program it to go to the person stomach just like you did when you were throwing it the first time. Here's where it gets different. Now you have to do some guiding visualization to guide the psiball to the stomach. Visualize a psiball going in an arched path (like a rainbow) to the target in this case the stomach. Keep do this over and over, make the shell, and while you are making the shell keep the visualization up. Now it's time to let it go, this is where the visualization is really needed. While you are doing it let go of the psiball guide the psiball up the path of the arch and directly to the person stomach. This should help your aim out some if it doesn't try your own methods; these are helpful to some people and not to others.

You should try both of the methods here just because the first one doesn't always work well for some people doesn't mean it won't work well for you and vice versa. Experiment with things; you could even tweak these methods up a bit to better fit your needs. This may not work for you on the first or second time but be patient and give it a chance. If you practice with these methods for a while and it doesn't work for you then move on and try a different method or visualization. Just keep practicing

Visibility

Have you ever created a visible one?

Yes. It's NEVER happened when I tried to make one, it's only happened when I didn't specifically say "This one is gonna be visible." So don't try to make a visible one and don't get hung up over it... it'll happen naturally!



What exactly is a psi ball supposed to look like?

It doesn't have to look like anything. I've seen shinny dots (like when you hit your head, looks kinda like glitter) and blue wavy snake things. That's personally. Other people that have e-mailed me have said they've seen sparks, the snake things, and fog balls (no, not frog balls Smile).



If I make them can the ones I make be visible to other people?

I'm not sure. I've made visible ones that I could see but no one was around to ask their opinion. I have had e-mails of friends seeing each-others psi balls, so it's quite possible. If I were to make an educated guess, I'd say some are visible to everyone, and some are visible to people who are into aura vision.



Are they supposed to be really bright and can they light up the room?

I've never heard of them being bright enough to light up a room or anything, but I believe it's possible. People have told me it's easier to see them in the dark - maybe because theirs emitted light rather than reflecting it... I don't know.



How do you see a psi ball?

The same way you see a baseball or a basketball. You just look at it. At least, that's all I've done.



How long does it take for you to get a visible psi ball?

It takes me about 1 or 2 minutes to make a psi ball that's visible. But I can't go into it thinking I want a visible one. I usually spend 1 or 2 minutes on every psi ball, and some are just visible. I don't think time period matters as much as the effort/emotion behind it. This one guy said he could make visible psi balls like crazy when he was excited and hyper. Different emotions cause different things so it's always hard to judge how long something takes.



Do you have real pictures of psi balls?

Nope. There are a couple reasons why. First, I don't have a buddy here to take the picture for me, so I'd have to make the psi ball then take the picture without losing concentration. Second, I can't make visible psi balls on command. I'd have to carry around a camera with me and make psi balls and when I saw one, I'd have to take the picture.

How visible is a psi ball supposed to be?

Sometimes I can see mine as clear as I see this keyboard in front of me. Other times I have to look REAL hard. Sometimes I get a glimpse - there are a lot of different degrees.



Is it at all possible to colorize your psi ball or make it visible to others?

I'm not sure if it's possible to colorize your psi ball. I believe it is, but I have no real proof. The only colors I've seen are blue and white. Blue snakes and white stars (yellow moons and green clovers Smile sorry, I couldn't resist!).



Is it possible to see psi balls without learning aura-vision first?

Yes. I can't see auras willfully and I've seen my psi balls. I don't know if it was spontaneous aura vision, but I haven't learned aura vision and have seen psi balls.



Summary

In conclusion, don't get all hung up if you don't see your psi balls. It's not a big deal as long as you can feel them. If you want to see them so you can show other people, rethink your motive. Why do you want to show other people, to make them believe? Let them believe what they want. If you want to make a visible one to prove to yourself that they exist, forget it. You already know they exist so move on...



Visualization

Am I imagining the correct thing?

You can imagine ANYTHING you want! It doesn't have to be one specific thing for it to work. As long as it is defined as "energy" in your mind, then it'll work. For example, if I say "car" then what do you imagine? Maybe a Dodge Viper, maybe a Ford Model-T, maybe a ton of other things - get my point? If I say "energy" you can imagine whatever... personally, I think of energy as electricity or smoke. But you can imagine water, butterflies, marbles, spheres, wind, fire... WHATEVER! As long as it's "energy" in your mind, it doesn't matter what you visualize.



I can't visualize/feel all that "energy" stuff that you're supposed to; advice?

You may not be able to feel it, that'll come with practice, but you can visualize it. As I said in the last question, just imagine whatever you want.



What do I visualize?

Anything you want. I can tell you what I visualize so maybe you can get an idea though. First I imagine myself standing on the earth and all the energy from inside the earth is rushing up and through my legs. Then as the energy comes through my body I direct it out through my arms. I visualize it swirling around my arms and going into my hands where the psi ball is. Inside the psi ball, I imagine the energy spinning really fast and as I add energy, it gets denser and denser. That works for me; make up your own thing and it'll work too with practice.



What is visualization?

Visualization is basically imagining something - kinda like pretending. If I tell you a story, you can imagine what's happening in your head, this is nearly the same thing. Just focus your whole mind on the task and don't get distracted.



Summary

In conclusion, don't think there is a specific thing for you to think for this to work. Every psychic has their own method. Make your own and don't worry about if it's "correct" or anything - if it works then it works, who cares what other people do. Just some tips though, when you are visualizing something, try to use as many senses as possible. For example, when I visualize the energy rushing/spiraling down my arms, I "hear" a WOOSH sound and I "feel" the energy going over my arms. I don't really hear it, and I usually don't really feel it (I do more now than before) but it helps make it more solid.



Throwing

How do you throw psi balls?

It's real easy to throw them, the only hard part making sure the energy stays in ball-form and not just fly all over the place. Keep your concentration, let it go with your hands, and direct it through visualization. Basically, you just think "the ball is there, now it's there, now it's there" and move it around the room that way. I've never done it with a visible psi ball, so I don't know if it really is doing what I'm telling it to do, put when I direct it back into my hands I can feel it again. That's my method, I'm sure there are others...



Do you throw it physically or mentally?

You can throw it physically if it makes you feel good but it's all mental.



If you throw them at someone can they feel it too?

Yes - but to a degree. I've tried to get my mom and dad to feel my psi ball once (before I learned to be quiet Smile) - my mom said she thought she felt something... my dad was against the idea. I think it depends a lot on the psi ball. Certain one's, yes, I believe people will feel it. One of my friends e-mailed me and said he can send psi balls to other people. If he sends it fast, it stings more, but if he sends it a little slower, they feel a tickle.

In conclusion, the only times I've thrown a psi ball was when I was alone. I just direct them through the room and back into my hands where I would feel it. It's really easy... I never read anything about it, I just did it. If there are other opinions out there, e-mail me.



Energy Sources

Are there any other power sources you could recommend for me and what you would visualize?

I use the Earth, it works for me... You can try the Sun, the Moon, crowds of people, a single person... anything. I like the Earth because it's so big - you know it has enough energy for you. Plus it's always close Smile! It doesn't matter what source you use when it comes to drawing energy from it - just visualize!



What am I getting the energy from on Earth?

Whatever you want... I "suck" it from the core and direct it into my body.



How do you gather energy?

This is how I do it:
Imagine the source (ex: the Earth)
Imagine you
Imagine the energy coming from your source and flowing into your body
Imagine the energy entering your body doing whatever (making a shield, creating a psi ball... whatever)
That's all I do. Just some tips - let the energy fffllloooooooowwwww... don't force it anywhere, always DIRECT and let it move on it's own. It's kinda like dancing. You don't TRY to dance and you look like a fool when you force it - you just gotta go with it!



How do you draw energy from a source, what exactly do you do?

Drawing energy is basically just visualizing the energy moving from the source into your body. That's all I do...

Remember - imagine source, imagine you, imagine energy moving. Don't force it and don't try to control it. You can use anything for a source... just make sure you have it's permission Smile.



Technical

Do you flex your arm muscles when you make them?

Nope. I've heard of this method before... where do you guys get this information from? I'd like to see the site or book. I've also heard of rubbing your hands together for 30 seconds or something... I prefer to stick to mental stuff and leave the physical stuff out of it. It's always fun trying different things... personally, I don't flex my arm muscles or rub my hands together.



Do you simply relax your whole body?

Sometimes. Sometimes I do it after deep relaxation, sometimes I do it when I feel energized. Mood affects the psi ball; being relaxed creates one kind of psi ball. Of course, with practice, you can make yourself feel a certain way. Then you can create excited psi balls being in a relaxed mood. I'm kinda close to that but I got some work to do Smile...



What level of concentration should you be?

Of course a scattered mind won't be able to focus the energy... you should be concentrated on making the psi ball and that's it. Like I said, mood affects the psi ball - a wandering mind will make the energy wander (in a sense Smile) and it won't be focused into one area. A focused mind will create a focused psi ball...



Do you have "off days" or what?

Yup. Some days I try to create a psi ball and just totally screw up and can't get anywhere. Just like baseball players sometimes strike out every time in a game, we sometimes "strike out" when making psi balls. Don't worry... it's nothing major. Get worried when you have an "off month" or an "off year"  Smile.



Summary

Mood affects the psi ball. If you're having a bad day, you'll be in a crappy mood most likely and you'll make a crappy psi ball. Don't think you just lost all your hard work... it'll come back once you start feeling better.



How do you...

How do you compress a psi ball?

Visualize it getting smaller... but not weaker. Imagine it getting denser. I usually don't compress the psi ball that much, when I add energy to it I just shove it in the small area and don't even think about making the psi ball bigger. Therefore, it gets denser without me having to do extra work.



How do you put more energy into a psi ball?

Keep absorbing energy and keep directing it into your hands. Some people move their hands further apart and make it bigger, then compress it down, some just make it denser. Do whatever you like...



How do you get the energy to flow?

Think of it floating or dancing, or visualize a waterfall or a stream. Just don't force it. Relax and let it happen. Let go. Work with the energy instead of making the energy work for you.



How do you maintain a psi ball?

Maintain concentration. You can also put an energy barrier around it - to seal it in. Then you can let it go and it should stay intact as long as the barrier holds.



How do I get the energy from my body into my hands?

Visualize it moving and coming out of your hands. It depends how you absorb it too... if you think of yourself as a container - holding the energy inside of you - you have to make an opening at your hands. If you think of the energy flowing around you (that's what I do) then you just direct it around your body and have it gather in your hands.

Time Periods

Is there any certain age to start?

Generally speaking, no. I personally think anyone younger than 14 or so should focus on just being a kid and having fun... Some people don't have that option though.



How long does it take for you to get an actual psi ball?

I can make a weak one in half a second. Usually I spend 1 or 2 minutes on a single psi ball... I have spent over an hour on a couple just to see how powerful I could make it.



How long should it take to actually feel the intenseness of the ball?

It took me about 3 days of hard-core practicing before I felt something. But it wasn't like a switch, boom, I felt something. It was gradual. But that's me... it could take 2 months for you or 2 seconds. It varies a lot...



How long each day should you practice making them?

As long as you want. If you want to be really good, practice a lot. If you want to be ok, practice some. And if you want to be just familiar with it, practice a little.

I used to (and still do) get hung up on "how long should this take." Just forget it... who cares. It takes however long it'll take. That's usually the rule Smile.



Feelings

When you're gathering energy, do you feel (in you're hand) two magnetic forces pushing each other?

Sometimes. I've felt a lot of different things. I theorize it depends on my mood and how long I spend on it and my level of concentration... there are a lot of things you can feel.



Blah blah blah - is this normal?

Who cares! None of this stuff is normal! So why compare yourself to everyone else... it happens to you. Who cares if everyone or no one else has the same thing happen.



My hands are burning a little; does that happen to you?

Hehe, yes. I've heard of people getting blisters because of psi balls. Know your limits and if you think you're getting blisters - stop for a minute Smile!



What do psi balls feel like?

Usually I feel heat. That's about 90% of the time. I have felt coldness, pulling of my fingers, and a cool breeze. This isn't "feeling" either - this is real feeling. I actually feel my hands get hot. I've felt my fingers getting pulled. That's me... others may feel different things...



Summary

Many people feel different things. Don't compare yourself to others - trust and learn from your feelings. Don't be stupid and get blisters either Smile...



Grounding/Centering

Should I ground before making one?

Do what you want - try both ways and see what works best for you. There is no set of rules... it's all personal.



Do you ground before you work with energy?

Nope. Sometimes I ground after I work with energy just to balance out. Usually I don't ground at all - it's fun feeling energy inside of you!



Do you center a lot?

It helps when you're in a little trouble, but I don't do it that often. A lot believe it helps you if you do it before you start - I notice no difference on me, maybe I'm not doing it right...?



Psi Balls and Other Objects

Can psi balls actually affect physical objects?

Psi balls are just energy... of course they can affect physical objects.



Can you knock over a pencil two feet away just by using a psi ball?

Sure thing. I haven't but you can. Definitely. Actually, one person who e-mailed me said they knocked over a Coke bottle with one. Look under the Kinesis' section for more information - specifically, telekinesis.



What do they do when they hit an object?

They do whatever you intended them to do. They can change a persons mood or move an object or do whatever. It's energy for goodness sakes Smile!



Do they ever cause electronic interference?

Some do, some don't. Usually more powerful ones do if they aren't programmed otherwise.



Can you make them so powerful that they turn into fire or electricity or even sound?

I believe it's possible but it would have to be really powerful.



Can you use them as a weapon like in DBZ (Dragon Ball Z)?

I don't recommend using them as weapons. As for cartoons... they are just that. Cartoons.



Are those psi balls dangerous at all?

They can be but don't be afraid of them. I've heard of people getting blisters from super-hot ones. If you're smart, you won't get hurt - unless someone attacks you. It's been known to happen to random people, but usually only to people who, shall we say, "ask for it". Be smart.

Practice. Every time you catch yourself wandering, gently bring yourself back to your focus. In time you'll get better...



What can you do with them (besides playing)?

Anything you want. Generally speaking, they're used just to get better with energy control so you can move onto other skills. Complex psi balls (or "constructs") can be programmed to do amazing tasks.
